A new, 8 track album, “Resist This World” by Chris Saenz has been released, finalizing musical pieces that have evolved and transformed spiritually and acoustically from the early 1990s. The Exchange, Corpus Christi’s premier venue featuring all things local (a real taste and toast of Corpus Christi) will host a celebration of “Resist This World”, July 22 from 6pm until 10pm. CDs will be available for sale during Chris’ performances at The Exchange, Scuttlebutt’s and Harrison’s Landing. Each song on the album (and the entire album) will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Rhapsody, Amazon, Facebook, CD Baby, Google Play, Rdio and other web music outlets.
Chris is the sole performer on the album, which features acoustic guitars, vocals and various percussion. The album begins with the funk-laced acoustic-rock/dance tune “Rich Already,” followed by a New Orleans Parade of acoustic sound “Saint’s Shuffle.” The bluesy waltz “Judgement Day” rounds out the trio. “Misery” a darker, acoustic-rock tune leads to the gritty-blues of “Love and Truth,” the beat of an old corn broom, sweeping the knotted floor of a creaking cabin. Folk and rock meld throughout “Trust in THE LORD, followed by the 7th song, simply entitled “JESUS,” a testimony of truth, faith, worship and thanks. The album’s coda “Until the End” is somber reflection; every moment of life is a precious gift.
The music of “Resist This World” has been warmly accepted and enjoyed at the exceptional venues of live music, Harrison’s Landing and Scuttlebutt’s over the last six years. The audience’s positive reaction to the songs prompted and inspired this new album, “Resist This World.” But don’t resist this music.
